When it comes to maintaining the beauty and longevity of your Kaiser kitchen cabinet doors, proper cleaning and maintenance are essential. Each material requires specific care to ensure it remains in pristine condition. Senior Designer Julia Eissing provides valuable insights into what is required to keep it looking its best.
Laminate Doors
Both HP laminate and directly applied laminate are extremely durable and easy to manage. You will need nothing more than a soft damp cloth and mild washing-up liquid to clean and condition these fronts.
Lacquered and Painted Doors
Lacquer surfaces are finished with a high quality, easy-to-clean polyurethane lacquer (PUR). For regular cleaning, we recommend the use of a mild household cleaner diluted in warm water and a soft chamois leather or sponge-cloth. The surface should then be dried using a fuzz-free cloth. Coarse or dirty cloths and strong cleaning liquids should never be used on lacquer surfaces since they will invariably cause surface scratches. Stains and splashes should be cleaned immediately and not allowed to dry.
Wood Doors
Wood surfaces – whether solid or veneered – are completely sealed and protected from all types of kitchen dirt and grease with a polyurethane lacquer (PUR). Wood surfaces should only be cleaned with a damp cloth to prevent water from getting into crevices and joints, which could lead to swelling. It is imperative to dry off the surfaces completely after cleaning. Ensuring that you wipe in the direction of the grain of the wood, without rubbing and without applying pressure, will preserve the distinctive grain, structure, and full beauty of the natural material.
Glass Doors
Since glass is a pore-free material, it is hygienic and easy to maintain. Clear glass can be cleaned with a mild detergent or any standard household glass cleaning agent. Chemicals and highly caustic agents should immediately be removed with water to protect the glass surface. Abrasive cleaners should be avoided. Satin glass generally has a slightly rougher surface than clear glass. It can easily be cleaned with a cloth or sponge and standard household glass cleaning agent. The glass surface should not be exposed to cleaning agents containing silicone or acid. Greasy and oily substances can produce stains on satin glass, but they can easily be removed with a glass cleaning agent.
By following these cleaning tips tailored to the specific material of your kitchen cabinet doors, you can ensure they remain in excellent condition for years to come.
